Mardave Cobra Electric
The Mardave Cobra was first released in 1992, the racers of 2wd buggy's at that time were all using far more expensive makes and models but the cobra surprised everyone by not only being able to keep up with them but actually winning. It became a real race proven competition off road buggy.
The first original Cobras came in two different kit forms the Cobra T.Q and the Cobra sport. The main differences being the Cobra T.Q was the full race version with ball-races, adjustable suspension top links and a slipper clutch, the chassis was blue. The sport version was cheaper with plastic bushes, non adjustable links etc and a yellow chassis but it did come fitted with a manual speed controller, motor and pinion so it could be used pretty much straight out of box. The cobra has been re released by Mardave in 2007 and further developments to the buggy meant is was continued up until 2009. Most parts are still available to buy direct from Mardave so those old ones stuck in peoples sheds could have a new lease of life for a very small cost (the most expensive parts being the chassis and body shell which are around £10 each and the new slipper clutch around £16 ) with most parts being around few pounds. The amount of modifications that can done to a cobra to keep it running with other way more expensive buggys is vast ......... |
